Shelley’s was awesome! They helped me figure out the problem with my brakes and I got to hang out with the two cute little dogs. Definitely stop in if you need a car repair!

Our family and our vehicles have been through alot in the last 15 years and Shelly’s service and personnel have been with us through thick and thin of automotive maintenance and repair. What I like the most is the sharing of knowledge, wit and wisdom as Paul et.al. walks you through “why” and the inner workings from brakes, belts, batteries, blickers to catalytic converters, cruise controls, components and glitches with computers in our cars. Truly enjoy the welcomes and smiles from the office personnel and the doggie greetings are an added and unexpected pick-me-up especially when you are inconvenienced by roadside assistance and a tow to Shelly’s shop. The mechanics are competent and conscientious in the execution of tasks on hand from inspections, oil changes to diagnostics and difficult repairs. They deliver every time and within reasonable costs.

Great place! I’m a starving college student and I couldn’t ask for better prices! Friendly atmosphere and good people. I’m really happy with their work! Won’t take my car anywhere else!
Jerry was my mechanic, super nice guy and one of the owners! He really took the time to explain things to me and do the best he could to help me out.

I own a Nissan Altima that had a blown head gasket and issues with the radiator. Plus the car had sat for nine months ( long story…can’t get into…). Anyway Jerry was up to the challenge of bringing my car back to life. It was a costly repair because of all the issues and money well spent. If you are new in town or a long time resident please take your business here. This was my first time here and I will be back. Jerry had my car for about a week and a half and called me constantly with updates. Even a follow up days after picking up the car to see how it was doing! Someone who gets customer service right. Take it from someone who has tried several auto repair shops in town and I’m a 21 year resident of Thousand Oaks….Shelley’s delivered a perfect working car. Thank you again Jerry!

I’ve been getting my car serviced here for several years now. First, the staff is incredibly nice and they always take the time to explain in detail what repairs you need and what your options are. There is no hard up-sell for repairs you probably don’t need. Another plus is the fact that they are a smog test and repair station, so they can smog any vehicle. Their excellent reputation is well deserved.

All of these reviews are correct – this place is wonderful. As a woman, I am usually treated dreadfully at an auto shop, but Shelley’s is the exception. They are fair and very friendly. I send my 21-year old daughter here as well; they always treat her well and keep her clunker running.

I could not be more pleased with Jerry and his staff. I brought my busted up car in for a smog inspection and not only did they offer a great price for the work but also fixed an issue with my hood that I had been having for quite some time. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I immediately brought my other car in the next day to have them work on it. I will not be shopping anywhere else, these guys are my new mechanics!

Great staff and on point diagnostics. I came in already knowing for the most part what I needed. With there multi point inspection and diagnostics ensure that they can catch anything you might not have known. After they ran the codes they followed up with a detailed finding, parts needed, how and why it can happen with recommended suggestions. No pushy up sells, just solid work. Gave them the okay and now will be moving on with confidence that my car is okay.

Round 4: still same great service. Very friendly and accommodating. After a few advices they save me a lot of money and they solve my car problem in no time. Definitely worth it. It also help to have a friendly cutie at the front desk.

I had outstanding service a couple weeks ago for an oil change. They also fixed an small issue with the tubing to my windshield wiper fluid. From start to finish, it was pleasant, professional and they are really nice! Their prices are reasonable compared to what I shopped around and I’m always happy to support local businesses!! It seemed like other people have the same mentality. I got there first thing in the morning, 745, and for the next hour they were busy busy busy … With what seemed like very satisfied repeat customers. I wish I knew the lady’s name who works up front, but she had the greatest memory on her. When it came to their cars and repair history, she was on it. They have super cute shop puppies too! I highly recommend Shelley’s for total car care needs. I will be returning for brake work.

Got there with no appointment made. The lady at the desk was pleasant and worked me in. The tech stayed to work on my car and got my smog check done and also pointed out the correct part that needed to be replaced. Another shop had me replace the wrong part. Happy with their service.

The BEST place to get your smog check done! It’s FAST, it’s CHEAP and service with a smile!!!! I used to take my car to Moorpark Auto and Smog and that place was horrible and expensive!
Do yourself a favor and bring your car to this place.

I don’t often do reviews unless some place is exceptionally bad or exceptionally good. And this is a case of the latter.

Shelley’s is one of the best modern automotive repair shops I have ever been to!

Everyone is friendly, comfortable to be around, the wonderful ladies in the office know cars, the experienced mechanics know cars (believe it or not, there are a lot of mechanics that do not know anything about the cars they work on other than how to turn a wrench and read OBDII codes).

They don’t try to sell things you don’t need.

They are not pushy or aggressive.

And they have doggies!

I think the doggies know cars too!

They even work on and know the differences between models of strange cars with strange needs like the 2004 PT Cruiser GT Turbo I have brought in a few times, that places like Pepboys and other big brand businesses will often use the wrong/crappy parts on from a wrong or lower model or try to sell services and push things the car does not need or could even hurt the car, even the dealership has done this! But not Shelley’s!

We have all likely had that moment where we are just driving along, everything is right, then… *kerplonk!* What the hell was that!?!? Oh no the check engine light is on and everything is shaking! Oh crap oh crap oh crap! I’m going to have to take a loan out on the house and sell the kids to fix whatever just broke! The mechanics are going to rip me off! I think my wallet just started crying… My poor car, you are too young to die! Live damn you! Live! You have so many more miles left to drive for!

I go to Shelley’s expecting the worst, I had even started digging a hole in the back yard to bury our poor dying car…

Then something amazing happens!

This is the only auto repair place I have gone to in over 10 years that doesn’t give me a heart/anxiety attack when it comes time to see what is wrong or time to pay the bill. Even on something I thought was going to be a huge problem with everything from the transmission lurching to the turbo making strange noises and engine shaking too much, other places were telling us we need a new engine or transmission or turbo, or all three, and Shelley’s says, “Nope just the motor mounts and air-box hose.” And the car was running like new again the next day!

They saved it! And I didn’t have to go homeless paying for it! And now I have a PT Cruiser shaped hole in the back yard I’m going to turn into a hot-tub.

I was even offhandedly talking about a used car I was interested in and if it had any problems they know of and their mechanics say nope, and they call up the transmission guy down the street right then and there and ask him what he knows about the transmissions for the particular car I was looking at, and the guy has owned 2 of them and said they are amazingly reliable. So now I will likely be buying said car, and I can assure you Shelley’s will be the only place I trust to take it to, if and when anything needs work.

And I cannot stress how important that is in this day and age. So many places talk down to you, or act like they know something they don’t, or only see dollar signs when you walk in the door. Shelley’s knows that honesty and treating people like people is what gets and keeps customers and makes for a good, long lasting, and profitable, business!

I love supporting local businesses! Shelly’s is great! They always to a great job with good prices. Very honest and will never do you wrong.

As I was driving down the 101 my truck lost all power and died. I knew right away that it was a fuel pump but as I’m from Santa Barbara and on a day trip to haul stuff back from Orange county I was at the mercy of local business. The tow truck driver recommended a few places and after a quick yelp search I chose Shelley’s. Jennifer greeted us with a couple glasses of water for my pup and got me all set up with a rental agency and we were on our way. Not only did they fix my truck that afternoon and arrange for us to pick it up after hours they dealt with the rental car place for the return of the van. That’s customer service !! If that’s not all Jennifer left us a note recommending some restaurants in the area.

We have been taking our cars to Shelley’s for years and have never had a complaint. Today was another example of how they care about their customers. We will always recommend them to family and friends without hesitation. If you’re looking for a good and HONEST mechanic Shelley’s is the place to take your cars.

I am so happy to have my car on the road and happily looking pleased with it’s self. (Yes, my car is pleased with it’s self.) Yes indeed, this was a great experience. I want to thank the entire company for work done with loving and caring hands. You are ALL very special and deserve much success.

This auto shop is nothing short of spectacular. my dad has been going to them for a really long time and he continues to go back for a reason. I just bought my own car and if anything goes wrong with it I know Shellys is the first place that I would take it. every time I go in there Christie the lovely lady at the front desk, always has such a positive, bubbly attitude and always greets and treats her customers with great respect. I cannot Rave enough about this auto shop and only recommend it to every single yelper out there! There’s a reason this place has five stars. Excellent customer service, professionalism and affordable prices all in one!! it keeps me coming back

Love this place! Called on Tuesday for a smog. Got an appointment for the next day. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Fast service, great people and awesome prices.

Brought my car in for new breaks. Shelley’s front office and mechanics were very friendly and professional, and they were the least expensive quote around! They did a fantastic job replacing my brakes, they work velvety smooth now! They called me to tell me the break job was complete, before their estimated time, and the amount I was charged was exactly the amount of their estimate! Super experience at Shelley’s. had my dodge truck serviced here last week. I rarely leave a auto service facility feeling confident I received quality work.
At Shelly’s this definitely was not the case.
I was greeted by a very friendly service writer at the front desk.
I fully understood the estimate, which they stuck too. I received a courtesy call to update me on the progress of my repairs.

Paul is the most honest mechanic. Shelly’s has been a family owned business, which has taken care of our families automobiles for 22 years.

They do not overcharge, they do not sell you work that you do not need.

They do what is needed and they do it very very well.

I recommend Shelly Automotive to everyone who does not want to worry about their vehicles.

These guys helped me in a jam. My work truck decided to overheat during a delivery and I needed it serviced in the area. Yelp led me here and I couldn’t be happier. Paul showed me exactly what the problem was and were able to fix it the same day as I was basically stranded in the valley. I even double checked their price with my mechanic of 14 years and it was same that he would have charged me.
