Cooling System

Your car’s cooling system provides a very important function that must be maintained or a major repair is at risk.  Your cooling system consists of you radiator, hoses and coolant that flows through your car’s engine and around your car’s transmission.  It’s job is very important – to keep the engine and transmission cool so they don’t over heat and freeze up.

An overheated engine can lead to a very major expense into the price tag of several $1000’s.  So, what is needed?

Your car’s cooling system has coolant/anti-freeze that runs through it.  This fluid keeps running through its system to keep the components’ friction minimal.  When these metal on metal parts have friction, they over heat and can breakdown in a very major way.

What is important is to perform periodic inspections and service to make sure your cooling system is running right.  When you bring your car in for service, as a routine, we check to see how well your coolant is protecting your car.  Over time and as the miles tick off, the coolant’s ability to protect goes down.  So, even if you have enough fluid, your fluid might not be protecting.

We run a test to see how well your fluid is performing so it can be at the optimal state.  Additionally, every year and a half to 2 years it is important to completely flush out all of your old fluids and replace it with brand new fluid to get maximum protection.  If you hear that you are due for this service, don’t keep putting it off, it can really cost you a lot of money (not to mention make you feel uneasy about your car’s reliability).
